Position: Senior Naval Architect Engineer

Location: Buena Vista, Singapore

Duration: 24 Months Direct Hired Contract

 

About Client:

Our client is a leading provider of floating production solutions such as FPSOs and TLPs to the offshore oil & gas industry and provides engineering design and consultancy services to support oil and gas extraction and offshore exploration activities.

Role Purpose:

To define the concepts and prepare the critical engineering deliverables of Naval Architect, manage and deliver the engineering deliverables for the assigned project (may include Bidding, Construction, Commissioning and Offshore assignment) effectively and efficiently according to the specified technical requirements, timelines and budget, and independently deal with and resolve all issues of the project. With sufficient years of experience, the incumbent may be assigned to be the Project Lead Naval Architect based on Company's discretion.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Understands the specific specifications and requirements of the assigned project (may include Bidding, Construction, Commissioning and Offshore assignment) and Industry Standard, Classification Society and Regulatory requirements.
  • Develops engineering specifications and general arrangement (drawings, major parameter, etc.) specific to the assigned project and validates them with the Lead Engineer before incorporating them in the RFQs.
  • Develops component design and hydrostatic/hydrodynamic activities for operational, installation and inspection / maintenance conditions, and verifies the compatibility of hydrostatic /hydrodynamic design loads with other interfacing disciplines.
  • Independently performs, develops and / or reviews freeboard calculation (Type A and B) and green water analysis of FPSO / FSO.
  • Independently develops and /or reviews mooring (spreading mooring and turret) and riser design including its pull in and installation procedure.
  • Independently performs Intact and Damage Trim and Stability analysis for FPSO / FSO project and operation aspects.
  • Independently monitors and controls the weight of FPSO / FSO or TLP, performs lightship weight distribution and Weight and COG Estimate; calculates CG locations and Radius of gyrations.
  • Independently performs scantling analysis, develops and /or reviews of the drawings, strength analysis, fatigue analysis and FEA (Finite Element Analysis) for local structures.
  • Independently develops, analyzes, coordinates, reviews and evaluates plans for tow- out and installation of project components and associated equipment installation and overall vessel motions and load response.
  • Manages model testing activities for project components including preparation of test specification, evaluation of test facility proposals and recommendation of contract award. Attends model test as company representative, evaluates test results and reconciles data with hydrodynamic analysis.
  • Independently evaluates all the bids received for Naval Architect packages from various suppliers, performs a technical bid evaluation process, involves in cost estimation, ensures selected vendors meet technical/engineering and delivery requirements as stipulated in the project specifications and gives assessment to the Buyer who will follow up in the tender evaluation, price negotiation and award process.
  • Conducts kick-off meetings with selected vendors to clarify issues and freeze the scope of the project, prepares and ensures the timely provision of accurate documents and specifications to the successful vendors to enable the latter to execute their work and deliverables. Participates in meetings, reviews progress and addresses interface/implementation/execution issues, escalates where necessary to ensure that the project proceeds timely and smoothly.
  • Visits suppliers checks and tests Naval Architect items to ensure that they function as per specifications. Where necessary, works with the suppliers/contractors concerned to rectify the technical issues & making sure that they comply with the specifications and are ready on time.
  • Provides technical/engineering support and advice to Construction/Commissioning work at site, trouble shoots and follows up to rectify the gaps or problems. Where necessary, provides off-site support and advice.
  • Interfaces with bidding team in the preparation of work content assessment and estimate to ensure compliance with the defined bidding strategy and that a competitive bid will be ready in time for submission of the company offer. Provides technical /engineering support to technical maintenance & support operation managers and offshore units as and when required, including units in operation as needed, trouble shoots.
  • Supports the Lead Naval Architect Engineer and informed the latter of lessons learned pertaining to the assigned areas to get these recorded during the course of execution of project for further processing through MOPS/OFS Lesson Learned Database. Shares the knowledge and experience with team members and guides the engineers in carrying out the assigned task in right and efficiently.
  • Complies with the company’s HSSEQ Code of Conduct as described in the HSSEQ Policies, the 14 HSEQ Standards, and the HSEQ Procedures to protect people and the environment at all times. Has a duty of care to ensure that all personnel work in a manner that is not harmful to their own health and safety and the health and safety of others.
  • Complies with company’s Group’s Code of Business Conduct & Ethics and Policies to ensure business activities and decisions conform to the laws and regulations and demonstrates high standard of ethical behaviour.
  • Provides review and evaluation on technical proposal from subcontractors and vendors in consultation with Lead Engineer. Has no authority and accountability in monetary aspects and staff resource matters.
  • Reports to Naval Group Lead for Corporate matters and Lead Engineer for project related matters. Occasionally responsible to mentor junior peers and motivate them for career development. Deal with sub-contractors/construction site/suppliers, internal stakeholders and client (if necessary) on technical matters.

 

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Degree in Naval Architecture Engineering with relevant working experience
  • Bachelor: 7 years
  • Master: 6 years
