Our client is a leading independent power producer in Southeast Asia, with a diverse portfolio of advanced power generation assets. They are focused on expanding their presence in established markets and new regions, exploring innovative fuel mixes and related infrastructure like gasification and regasification plants. Our client is hiring for:

Position Title: Head of Operations & Maintenance

Duration: 1 year direct hire contract (potential for renewal)

Reporting To: Power Station Manager

Location: Malacca

Roles:

  • Assist PSM in Managing and leading the station organisation to support the group vision and mission statement.
  • Assist PSM to Head and manage the station business in compliance with the PPA, Water and Steam Supply Agreements and corporate governance requirements.
  • Assist PSM on Development of station business goals and working through managers, engineers, executive, supervisors and staff professionals to achieve company goal.
  • Assist PSM on Development of human capital to support station business plan.
  • Assist PSM on Development of excellence in quality, environmental, health & safety as an integral part of the station business.
  • Assist PSM on Development of a knowledgeable and learnt organisation.
  • Assist PSM to ensure plant key performance targets are adhered and achieved.
  • Assist PSM to carry out ad-hoc assignments, which may be assigned from time to time.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise and advice on plant operations in accordance to the requirements of power purchase agreement (PPA).
  • Provide technical expertise and advice on plant operations in accordance to the requirements of Water and Steam Supply Agreement with GSPP.
  • Conduct daily plant performance assessment and review to ensure plant performance and capacity output complies with the contractual load with the off- taker.
  • Lead and manage the local tender board (LTB) on all station procurement activities to ensure all procurement are carried out in accordance to the limit of authority (LOA) manual and procurement policy and procedures (PPP).
  • Lead the station risk management unit in identifying and quantifying the station risk and institute appropriate action plan to mitigate such risk. Submit the risk management report to the risk management committee in HQ.
  • Lead and manage the station internal and external audit activities in accordance with the audit guidelines and requirements.
  • Lead and manage the station to achieve compliance status on all plant activities in accordance with the statutory requirements.
  • To further develop and maintain excellence compliance in quality, environmental, health & safety and other operational initiatives.
  • Provide leadership and guidance for employee career development, growth and discipline for organizational excellence.
  • Comply with all applicable SHEQ legal requirements and our stakeholders’ specifications by establishing policies, programmes and practices in order to conduct operations in a healthy, safe and environmentally sound manner with safety first, quality foremost & pursuing excellence.
  • To perform other additional tasks that are relevant and necessary to accomplish the company overall objectives, which may be assigned from time to time.

Requirements:

  • Degree Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from recognized universities or higher leaning institutes.
  • Competency Certificate from DOSH on the local authorities, if available shall provide an added advantage.
  • Minimum 15 years of working experience.
  • Experience in power plant operations in CCGT or Coal-Fired power plant or Cogen plant.
