Our client is a leading independent power producer in Southeast Asia, with a diverse portfolio of advanced power generation assets. They are focused on expanding their presence in established markets and new regions, exploring innovative fuel mixes and related infrastructure like gasification and regasification plants. Our client is hiring for:

Position Title: Head of Operations

Duration: 1-year direct hire contract (potential for renewal)

Reporting To: Power Station Manager

Location: Melaka

Roles:

Responsible for the whole operations activities at the Power Station, including the integration of certain maintenance activities, in compliance with Environmental, Health and Safety requirements and within design stipulated regulation capabilities of the Contracts, the Grid Company and Customer dispatch requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safety come first, quality foremost and pursuing excellence among all staff to achieve company vision and goal.
  • Support the Power Station Manager in meeting the contractual, technical and commercial targets of the Power Station.
  • Manage and ensure that the Power Station operates safely in accordance with the regulations and requirements of the grid company and the instructions of the Customer.
  • Manage and ensure the operation of the Power Station and co-ordinate the integration of daily maintenance activities, setting priorities on a daily basis and defining operational concerns for long term planning.
  • Manage and directly supervise safe working systems that cover all activities in the Power Station, maintain a high safety conscious working environment and ensure compliance with all company and legislative Safety and Health requirements.
  • Manage and ensure an adequate system of operational control exists for all environmental aspects and ensure compliance with all company and legislative environmental requirements.
  • Manage and ensure procedures are in place that allow effective management of the Power Purchase Agreement and all Fuel Supply Agreements.
  • Recruit, train, develop and guide all staff periodically assess their ability and potential.
  • Ensure work with other members of the team to maintain good relations with the customer and other parties.
  • Manage and control power station operational costs, prepare, agree and then control the Operations Department budget.
  • Ensure all group policies and procedures are clearly articulated to all levels of staffs.
  • Other relevant duties and assignments as per required by top management team.
  • Support station Quality, Safety, Health and Environment system and procedures including emergency response plan.
  • Comply with all applicable SHEQ legal requirements and our stakeholders’ specifications by establishing policies, programmes and practices in order to conduct operations in a healthy, safe and environmentally sound manner with safety first, quality foremost & pursuing excellence.

 Requirements:

  • Education from Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering
  • Board Engineers Malaysia (BEM)
  • 15 years working experience in the field or in related area with at least 3 years in managerial position.
  • Experience at least 10 years in power plant operations
  • Experience in managing and leading a team of staff
  • Knowledgeable in Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) and process principle.
