LEAD PROCESS ENGINEER – 2 years and renewal contract, Kuala Lumpur

Our client is a leading provider of floating production solutions such as FPSOs and TLPs to the offshore oil & gas industry and provides engineering design and consultancy services to support oil and gas extraction and offshore exploration activities.

Purpose:

The Lead Process Engineer will independently define key concepts and deliverables, lead, plan, and manage engineering tasks for assigned projects, ensuring technical requirements, timelines, and budgets are met. This role involves managing project resources, resolving technical issues, and providing guidance to the team.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand project-specific requirements, industry standards, classification society regulations, and regulatory compliance.
  • Plan and oversee the use of process simulation software, prepare design calculations, conduct and review simulation studies, and validate datasheets created by Engineers and Senior Engineers. When needed, lead or conduct simulation studies.
  • Guide Engineers and Senior Engineers in developing project-specific engineering specifications (drawings, datasheets, etc.), review these, and coordinate with the Project Manager and client before incorporating them into RFQs.
  • Independently evaluate process and utility package bids, perform technical assessments, participate in cost estimation, and ensure selected vendors meet technical and delivery requirements. Collaborate with Buyers in the tender process and price negotiations.
  • Review draft drawings and documents, ensuring the timely provision of accurate information to vendors to support their work and deliverables.
  • Manage and develop solutions to technical and engineering problems by analyzing data, interpreting results, and evaluating options. Anticipate potential issues and take preventive measures to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Visit suppliers to review process equipment test results, ensuring they meet specifications. Work with suppliers/contractors to rectify deficiencies and ensure timely delivery.
  • Participate in project meetings, review progress, address implementation issues, and escalate as needed to ensure the project remains on schedule.
  • Plan and organize resources to meet project deadlines and departmental objectives.
  • Provide technical support and advice for construction and commissioning activities, troubleshoot issues, and follow up with stakeholders to resolve problems. Provide off-site support when necessary.

Requirements:

  • Relevant process engineering experience in the oil and gas sector. A minimum of 15 years of working experience.
  • At least 12 years of experience working on FPSO projects.
  • Proficiency in applicable industry and company standards, specifications, and procedures related to the role.
